Award for the “Second”
The German Filmbewertungsstelle awarded our short EINE SEKUNDE DER WELT with the highest grade “besonders wertvoll”. Awesome. Here is the press text with the short form of the reason:
“A second is not a long time. And yet so much can happen in it. A life can change forever, a love can begin, a person break, a thought illuminate. The writer Siegfried Lenz has this fascination with the smallest unit of time in his short story “One second of the world” captured. The filmmaker Anja Struck now translates his words into feather-light, floating image ideas that slide into one another, which make the simultaneity of events tangible in an imaginative way. There is the soldier, whose rifle is transformed into a woman’s braid , which he is thinking about. There is the young student who, when he thinks about Thomas Mann, turns into an elderly accountant poring over his accounts. Struck captures all of this in beautiful black and white images, in which the camera of Impression to impression and through a skilfully subtle montage concept gives the impression of a single planned sequence ct. The atmosphere is complemented by speaker Torben Liebrecht, whose timbre gives Siegfried Lenz’s words a dreamy, warm mood. In the congenial symbiosis of image and sound, ONE SECOND OF THE WORLD is a very convincing lesson in the art of short film.”
